Pet-Safe Plants
Bring a little more green into your home without worrying about curious paws.
At Fern & Fur, every plant we carry is carefully selected because it's considered non-toxic to both cats and dogs. We believe you shouldn't have to choose between creating a beautiful home and keeping your pets safe.
Many of the most popular houseplants found in grocery stores and garden centers—including pothos, monstera, snake plants, lilies, and philodendrons—can be toxic to pets. That's why we've built a collection that lets pet owners shop with confidence.
Why Shop Fern & Fur for Plants?
Not all plant shops consider pets when choosing what they sell. We do.
Every plant in our collection is:
Non-toxic to both cats and dogs
Hand-selected for pet-friendly homes
Chosen for its beauty, ease of care, and uniqueness
Backed by a team that understands both plants and pet safety
Because our inventory changes regularly, you'll always find something new to discover.
Our Current Plant Collection
Our selection rotates frequently, but you may find varieties such as:
Hoyas
Known for their thick, waxy leaves and trailing vines, Hoyas are one of our favorite pet-safe houseplants. They're easy to care for, come in dozens of unique varieties, and can reward you with beautiful fragrant blooms when mature.
Calatheas
Famous for their stunning patterned foliage, Calatheas add vibrant color and texture to any room. They're often called "prayer plants" because many varieties raise and lower their leaves throughout the day.
Prayer Plants (Marantas)
These colorful trailing plants feature bold leaf patterns and make excellent shelf or hanging plants. They're beginner-friendly and completely safe for pets.
Ferns
Many fern varieties are excellent options for pet owners, offering lush greenery while remaining safe around cats and dogs. Our team can help you choose the right variety for your home's lighting.
Pet-Safe Cacti
Looking for something a little different? We regularly carry pet-safe cacti, including varieties without sharp spines. These unique plants add character and texture to your space while remaining a safer choice for homes with pets. As with any cactus, placement is still important to avoid pokes from any spines or glochids.
Palms
Palms bring a tropical feel indoors and are an excellent option for pet-friendly homes. We often stock varieties such as Parlor Palms and Ponytail Palms, which offer lush greenery and are well-suited for a variety of indoor spaces.
Everything You Need to Help Your Plants Thrive
A healthy plant starts with the right supplies. Along with our pet-safe plant collection, we carry a carefully selected assortment of products to help your plants flourish, including:
Premium potting soils
Decorative pots and planters
Plant fertilizers and nutrients
Plant care accessories
Whether you're bringing home your very first houseplant or adding to a growing collection, we're happy to help you choose the right products and answer any care questions along the way.
Because every product we carry is thoughtfully selected, you can shop with confidence knowing you're getting recommendations from a team that cares about both healthy plants and healthy pets.
Pet Safety First
While every plant we sell is considered non-toxic, "pet-safe" doesn't necessarily mean pets should eat them.
Chewing on any plant can still cause mild stomach upset or vomiting, and excessive chewing can damage the plant itself. We always recommend keeping plants out of reach of especially curious pets whenever possible.
If you ever suspect your pet has eaten a plant and isn't feeling well, contact your veterinarian immediately.
